(Gifted for purposes of review)

I’m always a little on guard when I hear any mention of the word “detox” or anything that rhymes with it, not least because one of my pastimes is reporting companies on Instagram that make wild claims about their “teas” that are actually just straight up laxatives.
However, before I agreed to collaborate with Rada Tea, I made sure to check that the magic ingredient in their TeaTox blend was not senna, and there are no photoshopped models laughing while holding cups of it.

If you’d like to read a little more background on Rada Tea, I’ve included some information on who they are and what they bring to the tea world in my previous review of their Mindfulness blend.
TeaTox is a herbal infusion that has three ingredients, all of which have been used in traditional teas for centuries – Nettle Leaf, Elderberry and Calendula (better known as Marigold). Traditional medicine and scientific evidence sometimes don’t meet, but I’ve done some brief noseying, and there is some evidence that marigold has stomach settling properties, and that nettle is a mild diuretic that may decrease inflammation (sources at the end of article).
Me, I drink my tea for the taste and the joy, so on with the review!

As with all the Rada teas I have tried, the loose leaf is a joy to look at – this one in particular being full of sunny marigold petals. I steeped this tea for the full 12 minutes, which released a wonderful golden colour, with a glass-like clarity. I know it doesn’t really matter if a tea is clear or not, but it’s very pretty to look at.

Aroma-wise, I would say I’m picking up mostly nettle with a hint of marigold. Tasting reveals all three elements, with the elderberries bringing a natural sweetness to the mix, the end note definitely marigold. It’s a delicate blend that you could definitely enjoy at any time of day, that isn’t going to overpower your senses, or clash with a meal. A very traditional herbal infusion, connecting you to centuries of folk wisdom, handed down.
